“When you have a dream, you’ve got to grab it and never let it go.” ~ Carol Burnett
My name is Caren Amoit, one of the Group-2 Ambassadors. My life has been a journey of faith and resilience in achieving my long-awaited dreams. I stayed at home for 3 years after finishing my High School education due to a lack of school fees to join college. During that time I worked as a house help to support my family but also to keep myself busy so that I could stay away from peer pressure.
My upbringing was full of pain and struggles because my parents separated when I was young and I was forced to stay with my grandparents because my mother who was the breadwinner was not able to provide for our needs, including my education.
After a long period of waiting to join college, I was introduced to Empower Hope by a friend and I gladly joined the Ambassadors program. I grew in leaps and bounds in my faith as a Christian and in life skills and finally, the big door was opened and I got a chance to join college.
I am thankful to God that this year I graduated with a certificate in Early Childhood Education and luckily got an opportunity to teach at Bethsaida Academy in Nakuru county. My desire is to further my education in the same field since I am passionate about teaching children and seeing them achieve their full potential.
Just like many beneficiaries of Empower Hope, I am very grateful that I got a chance to go through school and pursue my dream. I am confident that this is the beginning of greater things in my life, family, and the entire community.
May God bless all who have walked alongside me and many other young people in Empower Hope to see their dreams come to pass. You are very special in God’s eyes.
